MDC Alliance leader, Nelson Chamisa has made a bold strategic move to reward excellence in the party
following the appointment of legal expert and former aspiring Member of Parliament, Advocate Fadzayi
Mahere as spokesperson of the main opposition, sources told Zim Community News.
According to well-placed sources Chamisa was striving to make the opposition outfit a party of
excellence, hence the new strategic appointments meant to wrestle power from Zanu PF.
“The president is now more than ever before committed to serving his party and country well on
Mahere’s appointment he was clear that we must have a party that cherishes competence.”
Mahere, who replaced long-serving member Daniel Molokele, was among 16 other strategic
appointments made in the MDC Alliance’s National Standing Committee which is responsible for the
day-to-day running of the party.
The new spin doctor in the opposition contested the 2018 parliamentary elections as an independent
candidate, and was prominent member of Pastor Evan Mawarire’s #ThisFlag Movement nationwide
protests which rocked the Mugabe’s regime in 2016.
She has been at the brunt of Zanu PF Gokwe-Nembudziya Member of Parliament Mayor Justice
Wadyajena’s sexist remarks.
Wadyajena accused prominent activist Advocate Fadzayi Mahere of being behind the ouster of Nelson
Chamisa from the helm of MDC.
However, her latest appointment comes as a real smack in the face to Wadyajena and may prove that
Zanu PF was wary of her capabilities.
Chamisa also appointed firebrand former party youth leader Happymore Chidziva as secretary for rural
mobilisation and strategy in the president’s office.
