More escape from quarantine facilities
THE number of people escaping quarantine has risen to 187 amid growing fears in light of the spike in Covid-19 cases recorded mainly from returnees that quarantine centres are already spreading the new coronavirus into communities.
Earlier this week, statistics showed that a total of three Covid-19 patients had escaped quarantine in Harare and Beitbridge, bringing the cumulative total of escapees to 184.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police reports that three persons escaped from Murehwa training centre quarantine.
According to the reports inadequate surveillance and security measures within the quarantine facilities were the reasons for the spike.
Meanwhile, during the latest media briefing Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said the Zimbabwean Consulate in Johannesburg had been temporarily closed after two more officials were confirmed positive for Covid-19.
