Zanu PF is more than individuals: Warns Chiwenga
By TARIRO MASUNDA
VICE President Dr Constantino Chiwenga has issued a stern warning to Zanu PF members who were engaging in factionalism to get top posts, that the party derives its strength from its unity and not individuals.
Chiwenga said this after Zanu PF president Emmerson Mnangagwa’s address at ruling the party’s Mashonaland East Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting in Marondera held yesterday
Zanu PF chairperson and Defence Minister Oppah Muchinguri, national political commissar Victor Matemadanda and several senior government and party officials were also in attendance.
In apparent reference to party members competing for posts in the ongoing DDC election campaigns using party leaders’ names, Chiwenga’s boldly stated that the party will not be defined in the confines of individuals.
“Our loyalty is not to individuals, but to the bigger agenda which is larger than us; that of the party and the people of Zimbabwe.”
He castigated name-dropping during DCC election campaigns as a source of divisions rocking the party.
