‘Girl-child rights defender Madzibaba Andby to be hounoured’

LEADER of Johanne Masowe eChishanu the Fifth of Africa Madzibaba Andby Makururu is set to be honoured by the country’s fastest community newspaper, Zim Community News (ZCN), for his philanthropic work that has positively impacted the girl child and other vulnerable people in the communities.
The awards, set to be held on January 30, are going to honour businesspeople, gospel musicians, community builders, rights defenders and social entrepreneurs for the work they have done to empower the Zimbabwean community both locally and internationally.
Due to the Covid 19 lockdown restrictions, the awards will be held virtually on various social media platforms.
The award list that also includes Bulawayo City Council, Tino Kadewere Foundation, Jimayi Muduvuri, Edward Sadomba, Stalin Mau Mau among others.
During the Covid 19 lockdown Makururu has donated food items to the less privileged in the community including poeple with disabilities, widows and orphans.
Recently he donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to inmates at Mutare remand prison.
He is also paying school fees for over 1 000 less privileged children around the country.
Makururu said he will continue to assist the community.
“l have been doing my work quietly and l am happy that somewhere there someone is recognising my work, l feel humbled to be honoured, as God continues to bless me, l will continue to help my community,” he said
Some of the business people set to be honoured are telecommunications giant Econet boss Dr Strive Masiyiwa, property mogul Phillip Chiyangwa, and businessman and mentor Nigel Chanakira, among others.
In the gospel music Baba Mechanic Manyeruke, Pastor G, Minister Michael Mahendere, Janet Manyowa, Fungisai Zvakavapano Mashavave Blessing Shumba, Mathias Mhere, Letty Chawira, Lewis Ngara and Settina Mandiveiyi.
