SOUTH African-based promoter Alfreds Chitiza, popularly known as Sir Alfred, has urged musicians to hire managers who handle their business affairs in order to focus on their core business.
Sir Alfred, told Zim Community News that a manager’s role included formulating and implementing marketing and merchandising strategies.
“Managers do a lot of things, all of which aim to create opportunities for an artiste.
“We book our clients’ shows, plan album projects, orchestrate record releases and tours and establish and pursue long-term career goals.”
He said like any other manager, one needed to develop good people skills and it was critical for them to be knowledgeable about market trends, music industry developments and digital innovations.
On a personal level Sir Alfred who also manages award-winning gospel diva Carol Muzambi, said this year was more promising in his career.
“I am getting calls almost every day from artistes that are willing to work with me. However, as a person with a great marketing drive I am looking forward to working with artistes who know what they want and where they are heading.
“I am working on strategies I won’t disclose here to make sure that every artist working with me will be a force to reckon with and by the grace of God reach higher.”
He was born and raised in Chinhoyi.
