Tendai Mateyu, children in Covid-19 prayer song
By FARAIMUNASHE CHIKUMBIRIKE
UPCOMING gospel musician, Tendai Mateyu has dropped a prayer song that she composed with her children with the aim of comforting those who had lost their loved ones due to Covid-19.
The track entitled ‘Dai mauya’, launched virtually on YouTube, WhatsApp and Facebook platforms, was produced at award-winning producer Gibson Makumbe’s VOT Studio.
Mateyu yesterday told Zim Community News that the lyrics were drawn from the devastating effects of Covid-19.
“I came up with lyrics at the end of 2020 following the challenges that the families and the nations at large were facing due to Covid-19.
“I sat down with my children who contributed in coming up with the structure of the song.
“It’s a cry, a prayer to Jesus Christ to heal families and nations, to comfort those who lost their loved ones in line with Colossians 2 verse 14 which talks about blotting out the handwriting of the ordinances, which was contrary to us,” she said.
She also promised music fans that an eight-track album produced by Tawanda Midzi of Root Studios was set to be released in June.
