ZENGEZA East MP Goodrich Chimbaira yesterday donated chairs and desks at Zengeza 3 High School using Constituency Development Funds (CDF).
Chimbaira told Dungwiza News that the donation was to alleviate a serious shortage of classroom furniture and learning materials at seven public schools in his constituency.
Many schools in Chitungwiza are grappling with a shortage of classroom chairs and desks, a situation that parents at Zengeza 3 High School said was disrupting the proper learning process of pupils.
“Today, we are at Zengeza 3 High School and tomorrow (today) we will be at Ndangariro primary school and Seke 2 High.”
“Our constituency development committee held a series of meetings with school heads and parents representatives in our constituency and what came out was that there was a serious shortage of chairs and desks in these schools.”
Chimbaira said the committee then decided to use part of the constituencies’ CDF from the government to donate 50 chairs and an equal number of desks to seven schools.
The country’s education sector is underfunded under the weight of the economic crisis.
