FAST-RISING Afro-fusion songbird Rutendo Jackie last night made a big statement at the second launch of her EP in her hometown in Mutare with a flawless act that proved that her Harare launch success was no fluke.
The six-track EP entitled “Tsvimbo Nedohwe”, launched at Golden Peacock Villa Hotel, was produced by Cornelius Muponda 3D Keys @Harmony Studios, mixed and mastered by Keith Farquharson, a veteran in the music industry.
That Rutendo choose to work with Farquharson who made a mark on the local music industry with Ilanga was an investment whose fruits were on display.
Guests in attendance included Mutasa South MP Misheck Mugadza, National Arts Council of Zimbabwe Provincial (Manicaland) Manager Caroline Makoni and award-winning Afro-jazz singer and songwriter Victor Kunonga.
Others came from as far as South Africa and Mozambique.
After enthralling performances from supporting acts who included the Zimbabwe Prisons Band and Tswai Ntswai Arts director Sir Lino Piloto, the host opened her act with Mhondoro Nyuchi” a song which brought the house down.
This is a big comeback for Rutendo who began her career in 2005 and took a musical hiatus in 2013 to 2019 to focus on her family and business.
Her husband and manager Alwyn Mugandani thanked those who came to support them including his mother, who came all the way from Gweru.
