FOCUS on tomorrow’s annual National Art Merit Awards (NAMA) at the Harare International Conference Centre, is on the People Choice gong with dancehall singer Emegy Sylvester Chizanga popular as Freeman, who has three other nominations, topping the list.
Other artists selected for the big one are sungura stars Alick Macheso and Mark Ngwazi, Baba Harare, Dorcas Moyo and comedian Theophilus Chigumira.
Event organisers, Jacaranda Culture and Media Corporation# said voting closes on Saturday.
Freeman’s track, Zimbabwean Queen (featuring Jamaican singer Chris Martin), was nominated for Outstanding song and David and Goliath is set for honours as the Outstanding album.
The NAMA is the premier award given by the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe in recognition of outstanding achievements in the arts and culture.
This year’s event sponsored by Old Mutual Zimbabwe and CBZ, among others is set to cater for two red carpets putting superstars in the spotlight.
Star musicians Gemma Griffiths, Hope Masike, Tocky Vibes, Poptain, Feli Nandi, and Mathias Mhere are among those set to entertain guests with live performances.
