THE Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) election directorate department yesterday said the party would not hold primary elections but use a process of consultation within the community to elect candidates for the general elections.

This comes in the aftermath of the recent controversial Zanu PF primaries which were marred by allegations of vote rigging and violence.

During a media briefing, the opposition party’s election directorate head Ian Makone announced that April 5 was the date for its candidates’ selection process.
He said that the selection process would be presided over by the party’s Independent candidate selection panel.

“In the event that more than one nominee comes up to a position, there is a process of consultation within the community which will be the second round of interface with communities with a view to arriving at a single candidate per electable position.

However, Makone said individuals nominated will undergo an internal vetting process to ascertain their suitability before the full list of successful candidates is made public.
